Hammond Psychology & Associates is pleased to announce that we are now accepting CHAMPVA patients for eligible mental health services.
This addition allows our practice to expand access to compassionate, high-quality care for more military-connected individuals and families in Brandon, Tampa Bay, and throughout Florida.
What Is CHAMPVA?
The Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs, commonly known as CHAMPVA, is a healthcare benefit for eligible spouses, dependents, and survivors of certain qualifying Veterans.
Although CHAMPVA and TRICARE both serve military-connected families, they are separate healthcare programs with different eligibility and coverage requirements.
Services Available at Hammond Psychology & Associates
Depending on the patient’s eligibility, benefits, clinical needs, and authorization requirements, CHAMPVA may provide coverage for services such as:
- Individual therapy
- Mental health diagnostic evaluations
- ADHD evaluations
- Psychological testing and assessment
- Treatment planning and feedback services
Our team works with children, adolescents, and adults. Available services vary by provider, and psychological testing may require advance authorization from CHAMPVA.
Understanding CHAMPVA Coverage
Before scheduling services, our office will need to verify the patient’s active CHAMPVA eligibility and determine whether CHAMPVA is the primary or secondary payer.
Patients may have an annual deductible and a percentage of the CHAMPVA allowable amount as their responsibility. Those who have another health insurance plan or a CHAMPVA supplemental policy may have different out-of-pocket costs.
Coverage is not a guarantee of payment. Benefits, medical necessity requirements, authorization rules, and patient cost-sharing are determined by CHAMPVA for each individual situation.
