Recently we posted part 1 of our tips on How to Have a Healthy Marriage. If you missed that post click here and read it now! Basically, the main thing we learned in the last post is how important communication is to a healthy marriage. Let’s continue the conversation with even more tips on how you and your spouse can have a healthy marriage:
– Be intimate even if you have to schedule it. We get it. It’s not always easy to think about being intimate with our spouses with all of the demands we face in our daily lives, especially if you have children. Still, being intimate is a necessary ingredient to a healthy marriage even if you don’t think you miss it. The truth is as humans we crave intimacy. Not only does it help us communicate with our spouses better, it helps with our overall mental health and stress levels. It may not feel sexy to schedule it, but if you and your honey have gone a significant amount of time without being intimate you may need to schedule a play date with one another.
– Exercise. If you can do it together, even better! It may not seem like a marriage saving tip, but believe it or not couples who workout often have healthier marriages. Sometimes this is simply because of the stress relief that comes from exercise, other times it is because the confidence that comes from working out makes us feel more attractive to our partners.
– Look for the best in each other and treat each other right, always. This tip might seem obvious, but as time goes on in a marriage simple actions like this can easily fall through the cracks. Sometimes just sitting back and remembering why you fell in love with each other is all you need to get your marriage back on track. Treat each other the way you want to be treated and let your spouse know how much you appreciate when they do nice things for you. What is something sweet you can do for your spouse today just to show them you love them?
